Beginner ski touring course

Do you want ski touring to become you passion? Join us on the ski touring course on the vast slopes of the breathtaking snow whiteness. You will be able to discover the Julian Alps, the Karawanks and the Kamnik - Savinja Alps easily and with pleasure, and the European mountains will become more accessible to you.

During the ski touring course you will learn the basics of safe movement in the mountains on skis, consequently you will be able to enjoy skiing and go to the hidden corners of our mountains carefree.

CONTENTS:

• Ski touring equipment.
• Avalanche safety equipment.
• Technique and tactics of the ascent and descent.
• Danger in the mountains in winter.
• Cross section of snow cover and types of snow base.
• Stability test of the snow cover.
• Proper procedures in case of the accident-searching with avalanche beacons, probing and Mountain rescue service.
• Situational rescue exercises from avalanches.
• Tour adjusted to the group’s knowledge.

LOCATION MOJSTRANA

The location will be chosen based on the best possible weather and snow conditions on that day. 1 day Karawanks, 1 day Julian Alps.

• Beautiful surroundings.
• Accommodation available in Mojstrana, Dovje, or Zgornja Radovna.
• Introductory lecture held indoors in our office.
• Wi-Fi connection available.
• Easy relocation in case of poor snow conditions at the planned site.
• In case of bad weather or snow conditions, the location will be adjusted accordingly.

LOCATION INNERKREMS

Peaks above the hamlet of Schöfeld, in the Innerkrems valley. The starting point is the Joseph Mehrl hut, accessible by car. The surrounding peaks reach up to (2350 m), with the most famous being Königstuhl (2335 m). The cottage offers:

• Beautiful mountain surroundings with nearby peaks such as Kölingnock (2116 m), Zechnerhöhe (2188 m), and Sauereggnock (2240 m).
• Dormitory - style accommodation with shared bathroom.
• Excellent food.
• Showers available.
• No WI-FI connection, but 4G (LTE) mobile signal is available.
• In case of poor weather or snow conditions, the location will be adjusted accordingly

LOCATION ASTENTAL

Summits above the Astental valley in the High Tauern. The starting point is the Sadnighaus cottage (1876 m), which can be reached with a car. Summits to a height of 2800 m are rising above the cottage, the most famous of them is Stellkopf (2852 m). The cottage offers:

• Beautiful ambient of the surrounding summits like Mohar (2605 m), Rotwandeck (2715 m) and Stellkopf (2852 m).
• Lodging in multiple room with a sharing bathroom.
• Breakfast buffet.
• Dinner consists of a soup, fresh appetiser, salad from a salad bar, fresh bread and daily main course (on request vegetarian).
• Guests receive a bathrobe and sauna towels on arrival, at their request and on deposit.
• Free WI-FI in the next door house.
• Bedding is provided, towels must be brought by each individual.
• In case of bad snow or weather conditions, location will be changed

LOCATION MALTABERG

Peaks above the Maltaberg hamlet, in the valley of Maltatal. The starting point is the Leonhard hut (1600 m), which can be reached with a car. Summits to a height of 2800 m are rising above the cottage, the most famous of them is  Reitereck (2790 m). The cottage offers:

• Beautiful ambient of the surrounding summits Stubeck (2370 m), Faschaunereck (2614 m) and Reitereck (2790 m).
• Lodging in multiple room with a sharing bathroom.
• Excellent food.
• Use of shower.
• No WI-FI available, the signal available is 4G (LTE).
• In case of bad snow or weather conditions, location will be changed.

The use of ski touring equipment and avalanche safety set is mandatory in the course. If you don’t have your own equipment, we will lend it to you. The avalanche safety set is included in the price of the tour. You can rent a ski touring set at our agency.

The course is intended for adults and children from the age of 15. The maximum number of people on the course is 7 per group.
