The avalanche workshop is intended for everyone, both beginners in ski touring and those who would like to renew their knowledge of snow, weather and avalanche conditions, for a safer activity on the slopes of breathtaking snow whiteness.

Beautiful and snowy winter landscape of the Julian Alps is dragging us into its heart. We are slowly ascending, or we are already skiing and all of a sudden we hear bangs and blows and we lose stable ground underneath our feet. We start swimming and manage to escape from the avalanche to the right, but a friend who was with us 3 minutes ago didn’t make it…
This is just one of the scenarios and they happen very quickly. To be able to react in such circumstances, we will focus on the following topics in avalanche workshops.

- Ski touring equipment
- Basics of ski touring technique and tactics
- Avalanche safety equipment (avalanche safety set, backpack, stability test equipment)
- Snow profile making
- Stability test of the snow cover
- Situational rescue exercises from avalanches, with avalanche equipment
- Avalanche bulletin presentation
In case of your own group (at least 4 people) the avalanche workshop can also be organised for winter hikers or for people who like to go to the mountains with snowshoes.
LOCATIONS:
In Slovenia, tours usually take place in the Karavanke mountains, especially in the Upper Sava valley and above Jesenice, and in the Julian Alps in the area of Pokljuka and again the Upper Sava valley.
In Austria, the tours take place in the area of Carinthia, orwhere the most beautiful terrains are in Nockberg, the Obertauren mountains or in the area up to 150 km away from Mojstrana.
In Italy, workshops take place in the Western Julian Alps. We adapt the location to the best working conditions.

Usage of ski touring equipment and an avalanche safety set is mandatory for the workshop. If you do not have your own equipment, we will lend it to you for the workshop. The avalanche safety set is included in the price of the tour. You can rent a ski touring set at our agency.
The workshop is intended for adults and children from the age of 15.

Equipment
Personal equipment: winter ski touring clothes (suitable long winter ski touring pants and spare wind pants, at least four layers of clothing, wind jacket, spare clothes, hat, under hat and 2 x gloves), backpack at least 35 l, in which go drinks, food, equipment needed for safe movement in the winter highlands for 2 days and other necessary equipment (pocket knife, first aid kit, sunglasses, sunscreen…).
Technical equipment: Ski touring set: ski touring skis or split board, ski touring bindings, skins, crampons (if you do not have this equipment, you can rent it from us - not split board).
Avalanche safety set: avalanche beacon, probe, shovel (in case you do not have this equipment, we will provide it and it is included in the price).

Price includes
Guiding from a mountain guide and its costs, rental of avalanche trio (beacon, probe, shovel), transport from Mojstrana to the location and back (up to 200 km).
Additional payment:
- Transport, if longer than 200 km.
- Additional food and drinks.
- Ski touring set rental (ski touring skis, bindings, boots, crampons, skins, poles)
